This work involves the development of process simulation model for waste plastic pyrolysis.
Aspen plus simulation package is used to create the simulation flowsheet model of pyrolysis
process with feed capacity of 500gm/hr. Kinetic based model proved to be quite accurate for
simulation purposes but they are applicable only when adequate kinetic data is available for the
specific pyrolysis setup. An equilibrium based reaction model is developed in a way that it can be
implemented using Aspen Plus simulator. It was performed under various operating conditions
and validated the developed model against data collected from various literature. The equilibrium
based model is incorporated to predict the compositions of gaseous output generated under various
operating temperatures. Increase in operating temperature and pressure accounted for proportional
increase in gaseous product. The thesis highlights the utility of such a process flowsheet model for
large-scale waste treatment purposes.
