In the present research work, a smart cold storage for Karumkulam Grama Panchayat using IoT
(Internet of Things) and cloud is proposed. A multi-sensor wireless module based monitoring
system is designed using Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The sensors are placed inside the cold
storage plant to facilitate temperature and humidity condition analysis to ensure optimized
performance of the same. Furthermore, a software and a mobile application were developed for
users to manage, monitor, and avail the services in the cold storage . The proposed system model
aims at solving the inconsistent livelihood issues faced by the fishermen community due to the
lack of a proper storage facility. The cost effectiveness of the model is also ensured by making
use of the Raspberry Pi and thereby fortifying it as an effective solution to the predicament faced
by the community.
